The New cases of Covid-19 coronavirus in Argentina are on the rise and in the last two days they reached levels similar to those of the end of October, when those infected with SARS-CoV-2 they numbered more than 13,000 per day.
Although the trend has focused areas with a faster increase,it is evidenced in three out of every four provinces, according to the analysis of THE NATION based on the official statistics published daily by the Ministry of Health of the Nation 310 days ago, when the first contagion was detected in the country.
If the data from the last two weeks is taken into account, only five provinces have a negative balance with regard to the case increase. These are: Salta, Misiones, Corrientes, La Rioja and San Juan. Meanwhile, only Mendoza is stabilized.
At the opposite extreme, the provinces with the highest average daily increase are: Formosa (a 25% increase), which continues to have the lowest infection rate in the country; Santiago del Estero, Jujuy, Entre Ríos, Neuquén, city of Buenos Aires and Tierra del Fuego.
If we consider the parties or localities that had the most total infections in the last two weeks, it is recorded that there were six parties or departments that added more than 2000 infections. At the top is Rosario, with 3,722 cases, second is General Pueyrredón, whose main city is Mar del Plata, with 3,187; third, the capital of Santa Fe, with 2652. They are followed by: La Matanza, with 2378; the city of Córdoba, with 2168 and Puerto Deseado, in Santa Cruz, with 2167.
Consulted on If the country is already facing a second wave, health sources from different provinces consulted by this means indicated that the data for next week should be expected. “In December there was a component of social movement that January does not have, so we have to wait and see what happens because these infections that are being reported today are the tail of the holiday weeks.”
Another source assured: “I think that if an increase in cases similar to that of recent days continues, we can already speak of a second wave.”
