Zoé Robledo, general director of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS), sent a letter to the directors of the medical units to congratulate them on their containment efforts before the coronavirus (COVID-19), but also to make a call so that the plan of vaccination, which is aimed first at frontline healthcare professionals.
Earlier this Wednesday, Zoé Robledo explained that the IMSS will fight against influentialism and “gandallas” during the plan of COVID-19 vaccination, so that only health professionals who fight against the disease on the front line receive the vaccine during the first stage, because they are “the backbone of the Mexican response in medical care.”
“Today, when the light arrives at the end of the tunnel in the form of a vaccine, we must put those who were always in front at the forefront. Put the person who was in the first line first in the row […] The vaccine will be for everyone, but in this first stage it is EXCLUSIVELY for health personnel attending the pandemic. I ask for your confidence and patience, everyone will be vaccinated ”.

The CEO of IMSS clarified that the program COVID-19 vaccination prioritizes health professionals, not only for being the experts who relieve patients and for possessing the knowledge to counteract the emergency, but because it is a symbol of gratitude towards that sector, thanks emanating from the president Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO).
“We must guarantee that no one skips the line, that there is no abuse, arbitrariness or influentialism. NOBODY that is not health personnel attending COVID-19 in the first line it must be vaccinated in this first stage. It is time to appeal to the best of human nature: solidarity, ethics and professionalism. (Otherwise), the case will be investigated and sanctioned ”.
