President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said this Monday that he would no longer give his traditional morning lectures, being this Monday the last, since the media now give truthful news.

López Obrador added that there would be a weekly conference, which would take place on Wednesdays at noon.

“Before giving the floor to Ricardo (Sheffield), inform that we are no longer going to have these meetings, these ‘mornings’, because there is more progress in the information, most of the media in the country are fulfilling their responsibility in a professional manner, there is true, truthful news, there is objectivity in the media. So we no longer need to be here reporting every morning, “he said.

In addition, Jesús Ramírez, who is the Government’s general coordinator of social communication, will send newsletters informative so that the media can reproduce them, said the federal president.

“This is going to be Ricardo’s last presentation, because next Monday there will be no ‘morning’, but you can join me on Wednesdays once a week,” said López Obrador.

On December 28, 2018, a few days after assuming the Presidency, the president made a very similar announcement:

“We are not going to see each other in the mornings as we have been doing, there will be only one conference a week, on Wednesdays at 10 in the morning”, adding that that was the bad news of the day. “The good news is that today is the Day of the Holy Innocents “, revealed at the time.

Later in the conference on Monday, the president pointed out that his adversaries are looking to create discontent, and that is why there will be ‘morning days’.

“That is why I tell you once and for all that we are going to continue to have the ‘morning’. How do you think we are not going to have the ‘morning’? They would rub their hands, all the conservative press,” he said.
