The first leg matches of the Champions League semifinals were played with the Chelsea Y Real Madrid leaving everything for the duel back, while the Manchester City is outlined to leave on the way to PSG.
ESPN Digital presents what each of the four semifinalists needs to advance to the Final:
Chelsea vs. Real Madrid
The Premier League team surprised Champions League fans with their display at Alfredo Di Stéfano, but had to settle for just one goal. On the Spanish side, Karim Benzema, rescued the tie with a beautiful score, so the series is open to be defined in English territory.
The Merengues need only score one goal at Stamford Bridge and receive none to advance to the Champions League Grand Final. Interestingly, Chelsea need the same score as Madrid to advance and a one-goal tie would be the only result that would send the game into extra time.
However, a tie with two or more goals would benefit the Whites thanks to the value of the away score and would give them a ticket to the Final. For their part, the Blues, in the event of receiving two goals from Madrid in London, would be obliged to win the match by any scoreboard to reach the final match for the ‘Orejona’. Importantly, the zero-goal draw would give Chelsea the ticket.
The return match between Chelsea and Real Madrid will be played on Wednesday, May 5 at 2:00 p.m. in Mexico City.
Manchester City vs. PSG
With goals from Kevin De Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez, City beat PSG 1-2 at the Parc des Princes and with this result those led by Pep Guardiola have one foot in the Champions League Final.
To keep their dream of winning the ‘Orejona’, PSG needs to win in England by two goals and not receive any notes. It should be noted that no draw is positive for the Parisian team.
For their part, City needs to maintain their lead on the aggregate scoreboard and even a 1-0 loss would allow them to advance to the Final. The only result that would send the match into extra time would be a 1-2 in favor of PSG.
