Either we open or we die, say the restaurateurs of the Mexico City and the State of Mexico to the head of government, Claudia Sheinbaum, and the Mexican governor, Alfredo del Mazo.

Through an open letter, they ask to be declared essential activity to be able to return to work.

In the document, the restaurant industry indicates that since the beginning of the pandemic in the Metropolitan Area of ​​the Valley of Mexico, 13,500 establishments have closed.

“This is a call for help: they are extinguishing us. We can’t anymore! Let’s not condemn restaurant workers to unemployment or thousands of businesses to bankruptcy, ”the letter says.

He adds that the restaurants have already finished with their savings, even, they point out, part of those resources were used to adapt them with sanitary measures and to protect employees, suppliers and customers.

“Thanks to these hygiene measures and a limited capacity, restaurants are not sources of contagion,” they explain.

They add that the formal economy cannot continue to be punished at the cost of the lack of control of other activities; emphasize that since the announcement of Red light In both entities, it is observed with concern and frustration that the informal vending and street food trade continue to operate.

Difficult to turn red in CDMX
