Given the significant increase in COVID-19 cases in Puerto Rico, the recommendation of experts seems to reach a consensus that it is necessary to accelerate vaccination on the Island.

In the case of the former United States Surgeon General, Antonia Coello de Novello, assured in an interview with Telenoticias that Puerto Rico will not have herd immunity until the vaccines are massive.

For the doctor, massive vaccination efforts such as the one carried out last week at the Convention Center should be carried out, every day.

Coello de Novello pointed out that every day you should be vaccinated until 11 at night, and that after 3 in the afternoon you should offer the vaccine without an appointment.

“Those who work need peace of knowing that when they need a vaccine, they find it,” he said.

The doctor explained that enough vaccines are arriving to the Island to carry out these massive events, and that “everything must be done well” before the first storm arrives.

This, as he said, at the time the hurricane season begins, there is the possibility that shipments of vaccines to the island will be delayed.
