They find in a field of Balcarce tigers, pumas and buffaloes in captivity «Diario La Capital de Mar del Plata

During a search carried out at the request of the Federal Justice of Mar del Plata, it was discovered that in a field in Balcarce more than 300 wild animals were held captive under conditions that are now being investigated if they were adequate.

Tigers, pumas, buffalo, more than a hundred mouflon, deer and even a talking parrot inhabited the cages arranged on a mountain located 8 kilometers northwest of the town of Balcarce.

Now it is a question of determining if these specimens were part of an illegal trafficking market or if they were exhibited in the place as in a clandestine zoo, indicated the sources consulted by LA CAPITAL.

The Federal Police personnel who arrived at the scene with the support of the Rural Patrol carried the order of Judge Santiago Inchausti previously requested by the prosecutor Laura Mazzaferri, who thus acted on a complaint filed by the Environmental Control Brigade of the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development of the Nation.

The complaint made reference to the possible trafficking of these animals, most of them wild, wild and not native to the Balcarce district. They are also species protected by the Wild Fauna Law.

The live specimens found are 2 Tigers, 10 Pumas (4 males and 4 females, two young), 14 Red Deer, 12 Antilopes, 6 Axis Deer, 57 Lady Deer (48 and 9 young), 1 Guanaco, 20 Peacocks, 1 Wildcat, 1 Llama, 1 Buffalo, 150 Mouflon, 2 Rhea, 9 Wild Boars, 1 Red Partridge, 1 Talking Parrot, 1 Yellow Cardinal, 1 Blackberry Queen, 1 Orange Tree, 1 Spanish Goldfinch, 3 Common Ties, 1 Yellow Goldfinch, 1 Tufted Blackbird, 2 Common Starlings and 2 Red-topped Cardinals.

In addition there were also hunting trophies from puma leathers to antlers of lady deer and axis.

In another sector of the rural establishment, weapons and a cell phone were seized.

Due to the uniqueness of what was found in the place, the Justice ordered that they be kept there while the origin and destination of these animals is analyzed.

“Wildlife is highly regulated and to have what these people had there, a significant amount of documentation is necessary. A registration of each animal according to the species, the qualification of the property, the type of documented feeding, and other aspects is mandatory, ”said the source consulted.

At first, the version that a part of these animals belonged to the old Sierra de los Padres zoo, which would operate until 2017, transcended. However, that is another of the inquiries that are made at this time and that has not yet been clarified
