An eight-month-old baby was shot in the attack against Ignacio “Nacho” Paez Soto, identified as an operator for Chapo Guzmán in Sonora; executed this Saturday afternoon in the municipality of Caborca, a border region where, according to intelligence reports from the Secretariat of Public Security and Citizen Protection, a bloody battle is taking place for the plaza between two criminal groups linked to the Sinaloa Cartel, in which Rafael Caro Quintero participates.
The armed attack occurred at 1:00 p.m. in the parking lot of a convenience store located on 10th Street between avenues “L” and “M” of the Centro neighborhood, when the victim was inside a car next to a woman and a baby.
According to witnesses to the events, several armed men fired their assault rifles at “Nacho” Páez. In the attack, the eight-month-old baby was injured with a firearm impact on one of her arms.
Immediately the area was cordoned off by authorities from the three levels of government. Experts from the Attorney General’s Office in Sonora and the Attorney General’s Office arrived at the site and started the investigation folder.
While the officers of the State Public Security Police, the National Guard and soldiers of the Mexican Army carried out operations to locate those responsible for the attack.
