Apr 2 (Reuters) – The U.S. Labor Department said on Friday that 916,000 jobs were created in March, higher than expected, compared with 468,000 in the previous month.
A Reuters poll of 90 economists had forecast job creation to rise to 647,000.
The US unemployment rate fell to 6% from a level of 6.2%, according to the Labor Department, compared to a forecast of 6.0%.
As for the indicator of average hourly wages, it fell 0.1% in March.
The forecast was for an increase of 0.1%.
