In front of dozens of people, and in the middle of a football game, a 26-year-old young man was shot this Sunday in Texistepec, Veracruz. The moment of the execution was recorded on video.
Luis Fernando Morales Sánchez, a player for the San Juan Evangelista soccer team, was shot at noon after subjects aboard a motorcycle entered the “Gilberto Muñoz Mosqueda” sports field to execute him in front of other players.
According to the first reports, a lone hitman came to shoot him on the side of where the “Copa Texistepec”, A tournament that brings together soccer matches of teams from various municipalities and congregations in southern Veracruz.
An hour earlier, Luis Fernando had participated in the opening match that his team played against Texistepec. At the end of the match, the young man decided to stay to watch other matches in an improvised stands.
Soon after, the hitman got off an Italika motorcycle and shot the young Morales Sánchez five times. After achieving his goal, he escaped with a companion who was already waiting for him with the motorcycle on.
Texistepec is a municipality located more than 370 kilometers from the state capital and close to the municipalities of Acayucan and Sayula from German, a region shaken by drug trafficking, fuel theft and the trafficking of Central American migrants. Illegal activities controlled in the past by Los Zetas and today under the control of the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG).
Luis Fernando Morales was accompanied by a young woman, who suffered a nervous breakdown after the murder of his companion. The organizers of the tournament decided to cancel the sporting event after the crime.

At least 6 cartels operate in the entity, according to the authorities themselves: Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG) “Old School Zetas”, Cartel del Noreste Z, Cartel Unidos (Sinaloa cartel united with the Anthrax and South Mando Gente Nueva) and Jarochos Unidos.
