We present you the mistakes that the Potosí team has made to be sunk in the lower part of the quotient table

Atlético de San Luis returned to the First Division as last place in the Percentage Table. Despite having a higher volatility in the quotient issue, the potosino team did not know how to take advantage of the opportunity to leave faster from the last places of the descent. The rojiblancos committed some “sins” since their first tournament in Liga MX, which have them in danger of paying the fine.

SUPPORT FOR THE MEMO VÁZQUEZ PROJECT

Despite the fact that after the dismissal of Gustavo Matosas as coach of Atlético de San Luis, the arrival of Guillermo Vázquez to the Potosí team seemed to bring the expected results, things with the Mexican coach did not go as expected.

During Guard1anes 2020, the sporting situation of the rojiblancos was declining day by day. In the tournament under the management of Vázquez, the Potosinos added 11 defeats, the most bulky against Mazatlán, five goals to zero. Although the poor results began in the first days of the championship, the board headed by Alberto Marrero decided to support Vázquez’s project, which it resulted in the rojiblancos finishing the championship in last place in the general table.

CHOICE OF REINFORCEMENTS

The reinforcements that the rojiblanca board hired for their first championships in the MX League, were only media players who did not contribute anything to the Potosí team. One of those signings was Ricardo Centurión, who only played 240 minutes in the entire Apertura 2019 in addition to the fact that during his stay in Potosí he had various behavioral problems within the Las Tunas team.

Another of the players who came as a figure to the Potosinos offensive was Mauro Quiroga. The ‘Commander’ was signed after being the scoring leader of Necaxa and the Apertura 2019. However, the pair between him and Nicolás Ibañez did not work. Quiroga barely scored three goals in the entire Guard1anes 2020 with the rojiblanca jersey.

OUTPUT KEY ELEMENTS

During the four tournaments that Atlético de San Luis leads in the First Division, the Las Tunas team has given way to some elements that were key in positions in which they have currently suffered. Players like Mario Abrante, Luis Reyes, Matías Catalán, Junior Benítez, Diego Valdés, did not enter into the plans of the different technical bodies that have directed the Potosinos.

DEPARTURE FROM SOSA AND ARRIVAL FROM MATOSAS

Undoubtedly one of the first decisions that generated controversy over the management of the Potosí team was the dismissal of Alfonso Sosa as a strategist of the rojiblanco team. In an unexpected decision, Alberto Marrero decided to terminate the contract of the Mexican coach, who in eight days had the Potosinos in the qualifying zone.

However, the sports instability of the Potosinos came from the hand of the hiring of Gustavos Matosas as coach of Atlético de San Luis. The Uruguayan strategist, in addition to not removing the rojiblanco from the last places of the General Table, put the people of Las Tunas in the media eye, due to the scandal that allegedly involved him in corruption issues during his time with other Mexican soccer teams.

INEXPERIENCE IN LIGA MX

When Atlético de San Luis arrived in Mexico, in their first tournament in the Ascenso MX, the Spanish franchise went through a sporting situation similar to the one they now live in in the First Division, even in the Silver League the Potosinos struggled at some point to avoid relegation to the Premier League.

The solution for Atlético de San Luis came after the hiring of Alfonso Sosa as coach of the Potosinos. The board headed by Alberto Marrero decided to trust a technician who knew the environment of the promotion to fight for a place in the First Division.

Although with four years in Mexico it seems that Spanish managers have little by little acquired knowledge of the Mexican soccer environment, some decisions taken have cast doubt on the sporting stability of the project.
