After the passage of the law to legalize abortion in Congress, Pope Francis stated this morning that “We are all born because someone has wished life for us”, by leading his last general audience of the year in the Vatican.
“For us Christians, giving thanks has given name to the most essential Sacrament there is: the Eucharist. The Greek word, in fact, means precisely this: thanksgiving ”, said the pontiff during the catechesis that he gave from the Library of the Apostolic Palace of the Vatican.
“Christians, like all believers, bless God for the gift of life. To live is above all to have received life. We are all born because someone has desired life for us, ”he added in the written message, which is part of a series of catechesis on gratitude that began in December.

And this is just the first in a long series of debts that we incur living. Recognition debts. In our existence, more than one person has looked at us with pure eyes, gratuitously ”, added the Pope.
According to the pontiff, “they are often educators, catechists, people who have carried out their role beyond the measure required by duty. And they have raised gratitude in us.
Yesterday, hours before the debate in the Senate of the abortion legalization project promoted by the Alberto Fernández government began, the Pope published a message on his social networks in which he warned: “Every discarded person is a child of God”.

Tomorrow, Thursday, Pope Francis will close his 2020 activities with the celebration of Vespers and the Tedeum of appreciation in St. Peter’s Basilica.
