President Alberto Fernández and the governors agreed this Wednesday on the need to restrict circulation at night to try to avoid the increase in coronavirus infections.
From the Government they assured Clarion that the agreement is “unanimous”, although the time slot in which it will be implemented remains to be defined. One of the options that are evaluated is that it runs from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Fernández, accompanied by the Minister of the Interior, Eduardo “Wado” de Pedro and the Secretary for Access to Health, Carla Vizzotti, holds a meeting with all the provincial leaders from the residence of Olivos.
According to Clarín from the Government, it will be a national norm but “each governor would apply it in his jurisdiction according to the health reality.”
The restrictions to circulate at night already apply in La Pampa, Chaco, Formosa and Santiago del Estero, and in the next few hours they would be extended to the rest of the country. According to specialists, it has a lesser impact on economic activity when compared to a hard quarantine like the one that Argentina had at the beginning of the pandemic.
In addition to circulation, the president evaluates together with the governors to apply restrictions on public transport. One of the options is to limit its use to essential workers again, as it was until three months ago.
Another of the ideas discussed in the virtual meeting led by Fernández is to lower the frequency of flights and put an app into operation to control those who enter the country.
The Buenos Aires government had already been evaluating these measures. It was confirmed this Wednesday by the Deputy Minister of Health, Nicolás Kreplak, who spoke of restrictions on “night time” and “public transport”.
“The scenario as we are is very negative. We have to make definitions that manage to reverse the contagion. All the decisions we make have to aim at reducing the form of contagion and there are several possible ones. The last of all and that we want to avoid is to return the most effective is absolute isolation, “said the official.

And he added: “Some related to nightlife are being considered. We are doing meticulous work and the cases have increased more in the population between 15 and 30 years old. Before it was not like that, before it was between 30 and 45 years old. Perhaps also take measures Help in that population because they are the first to be infected and then they infect the rest. Also, take segmented measures on the means of transport. “
