The national government made official this Wednesday the plan for vaccination against coronavirus. The campaign started last Tuesday with the application of the first of the 300,000 doses of the Russian vaccine Sputnik V, whose inoculation “will be voluntary, free, equitable and equal and must be guaranteed to the entire population.”
The officialization of the “Strategic Plan for Vaccination Against Covid-19“was embodied in Resolution 2883/2020 of the Ministry of Health, signed by Ginés González García, and published this Wednesday in the Official Gazette.
The resolution indicates that the plan aims to “decrease morbidity, mortality and the socio-economic impact caused by pandemic of coronavirus in Argentina, from the vaccination of the entire target population in a staggered and progressive way, in accordance with risk prioritization and dose availability of vaccines “.
It is also specified that the strategy of the plan is in charge of the Health portfolio and includes the participation of the 24 jurisdictions, “through the Federal Health Council and civil organizations, experts and other sectors convened for this purpose.”
The rule determines that vaccination against the coronavirus “will be voluntary, free, equitable and equal and must be guaranteed to the entire target population, regardless of the history of having had the disease“.
In this sense, it is emphasized that to “achieve the objective of achieving high vaccination coverage in a timely manner”, it requires “articulated, collaborative and multisectoral actions at all levels of government, together with social organizations.”
In accordance with what is stated in the resolution, the Ministry of Health is in charge of providing the rest of the provinces with the vaccines that are authorized, as well as the syringes, needles, disposers and vaccination cards.
It is also specified that vaccination will be staggered, taking into account the availability of the input, and “considering priority population for adults over 60 years of age, health personnel, strategic personnel and risk groups“.
Through the Health Networks Program, the health portfolio will make transfers to the provinces to be used for the implementation of the vaccination campaign.
In the resolution published today, mention was made that the World Health Organization (WHO) recommends the application of vaccines “as a fundamental primary prevention tool to limit the health and economic consequences of the pandemic.”
