Last March, the Government of Mexico published a report on the accident in which sabotage to the aircraft was ruled out and the accident was attributed to a technical failure, inadequate maintenance and lack of supervision of the General Directorate of Civil Aeronautics.

According to the opinion, it was determined that one of the actuators, which are the ones that move the blades and give stability to the aircraft, had two loose screws, what caused the helicopter would reverse in flight and then hit the ground, and subsequently fire.

“It was the loss of control of the aircraft due to a sudden roll to the left, which was not recovered by the pilot-in-command and caused the impact“, Said then the Secretary of Communications and Transportation (SCT), Javier Jiménez Espriú when presenting the final opinion at the morning conference at the National Palace.

In that conference it was detailed that when analyzing the flight log it was found that on December 13 (days before the accident), system linear actuator was damaged stability increase number two and needed replacement; however, the aircraft continued to operate.

In that same month, an email from Rotor Fligth Services requesting to apply the warrant of the warping linear actuator of stability enhancement system number two, which had previously been sent for repair, due to a failure detected on June 25, 2018.

The data revealed that the aircraft was not to continue operating. The message sent to the American workshop Accesories Instruments highlighted:

“The reason for our email is to tell you that the actuator that they repaired us is reporting maintenance that is failing so they are going to download it from the machine, here I want to know to apply the guarantee and be able to proceed with it, since it would be a bit urgent because the machine It has compromised flights and we cannot stop it”.

Such opinion was integrated into the investigation folder and sent to the Attorney General of the Republic. Several months after said progress was reported in the investigations, the arrest of five people who belonged to said maintenance company has been completed.
