The day of ‘Chicharito’ Hernández: Three goals and he goes cheered

The version of Javier Hernández that LA Galaxy fans were waiting for has arrived. This Sunday was a special day for Chicharito, as he scored a triplet in the Angelenos’ debut at home this season, and with fans present, for a 3-2 victory against the New York Red Bulls.

After completing the hat-trick, the Mexican forward left the field at minute 78 ‘and won the standing ovation.

“It was incredible,” said a smiling Chicharito after the victory. “Listening to the fans here, a good number of people came, supporting us, everything changes when people come, it was incredible.”

After a difficult 2020, Hernández started the 2021 tournament with five goals in two games. The last time the Mexican forward had hat-tricked was in 2016 against Mainz.

“I will add another hat-trick that I did with Manchester United, nothing more than the second goal, the Premier League did not want it, but as a forward it is something very nice and grateful to the team to be able to finish the plays. The credit belongs to everyone, the important thing is to look for the three points, ”said Javier Hernandez, who made the fourth triplet in his career with both the club and the national team.

Previously, Chicharito hat-tricked against El Salvador (2011), Borussia Monchengladbach (2015) and Mainz 05 (2016).

The results that Javier has shown on the court are not the work of chance. Much is the system that has come to implement Greg Vanney with the team, the understanding with the teammates, but also, the personal work that Hernández has done to show his best version in all aspects.

“I am working with a team of about ten people that ranges from my emotions, my mind, my social networks, food, recovery, analysis on and off the field, behaviors and more,” shared Chicharito. “The way that Greg (Vanney) conveys his idea of the game is very easy to understand and the interesting thing is to carry it out. It is being a very complete job and that is why we are the only club that right now has two victories. We are very clear that there is a lot of room for improvement, we are enjoying the day-to-day process ”.

Chicharito opened the account at minute nine closing to the second post to push the ball, after a deflected shot from Ethan Zubak. The Red Bulls drew at 26 through Gutman, but before halftime, Chicharito again put the home team ahead with a strong cross shot after a precise cross from Víctor Vázquez.

At 60, Chicharito was attentive again to the second post to make his third goal. Red Bulls discounted a couple of minutes later, but the Angelenos knew how to secure the victory beyond the ten-minute recharge added by the referee.

“What we had to do today was to put (Chicharito) in front of the goal and give him opportunities and he took advantage of them as the scorer that he is,” said coach Greg Vanney. “They were opportunistic actions and it also helped us on the defensive side when required. His movement in the final action, as in the second goal, I think was spectacular.

Jonathan dos Santos was substituted for Efraín Álvarez in the 72nd minute due to cramps. According to coach Vanney, it is something that has been afflicting Jona and they are working on it with the player.

The LA Galaxy is the only team so far in Major League Soccer to have started the tournament with two victories from two games played. His next commitment will be the following Sunday visiting the Seattle Sounders.
