The bad streak continues: Carlos Vela missed Saturday’s duel due to COVID-19 protocol

This Saturday began the second day of MLS 2021 and the forward Carlos candle could not be from the game with Los Angeles FC due to the COVID-19 protocol. In the opening day his coach was confused that he replaced him believing that he was injured and he was there to continue.

It was LAFC’s debut at the Banc of California Stadium this season. They drew 1-1 with the Seattle Sounders with goals from Eduard Atuesta (LAFC) and Brad Smith (SEA). With which, the Californian team reached four points in two presentations.

It should be noted that the club did not report if Vela had tested positive in the PCR test for COVID-19, but it was not due to the strict sanitary protocol that the league implemented for this campaign. Along with the Mexican, the defender Tristan Blackmon was not there for the same reason.

Mohamed Traore and Erik Dueñas were not there due to injury.

Vela could only play 22 minutes in the debut against Austin FC, a duel in which they won 2 – 0. In his history with the Californian club, he has 73 goals and 43 assists in 81 games. Numbers that do not make him one of the greatest figures in the entire circuit.
