Sweden wants to introduce vaccination certificates by summer

First Denmark, now Sweden: The country has announced the development of a digital corona vaccination certificate – and explained which freedoms it should enable in the future.

The Swedish government has set itself the goal of developing a digital system for the detection of vaccinations by the summer. Digitization Minister Anders Ygeman said on Friday that every Swede who was vaccinated against Covid-19 should receive an internationally valid confirmation, either as an app or a downloadable document.

Vaccination certificate for travel and restaurants

Ygeman said he expected travel companies and countries to require proof of vaccination in the future. But it is also conceivable that you would need appropriate proof when visiting a hairdresser, masseur, restaurant or concert.

Should the EU come up with a set of rules for a vaccination pass, Sweden will adapt to it. The EU Commission has announced that it will present the draft law for a “digital green passport” on March 17th, which will record corona vaccinations, Covid diseases and negative tests.
