Storm in Hamburg – construction workers in danger after a lightning strike

Mega rain. Thunder rumble: violent thunderstorms and heavy rain led to many deployments by the Hamburg fire brigade on Friday morning and put several construction workers at risk from lightning strikes.

In the Hafencity, two crane drivers were locked in their pulpit due to a power failure on a construction site with several cranes, as a fire department spokesman for the German press agency said.

In the city center, four craftsmen had to be rescued on a roof, presumably after a lightning strike in the immediate vicinity. As things stand, there are no deaths and no fires, according to the fire brigade.

The fire brigade also had to go on several missions in the morning because of flooded streets and full basements. “The northeast of the city is particularly affected.”

“Heavy rain, hail and squalls can occur again and again in the next few days and cause new damage. The weather is becoming more turbulent, but in many regions it remains warm in summer.
