SAO PAULO / NEW YORK (Reuters) – Sugarcane production in Brazil’s south-central region in 2021/22 is expected to range between 567 and 578 million tons, down from the previous projection of 586 million. tons, brokerage StoneX said Monday.
However, StoneX expects sugar production to be on average not much lower than its previous forecast of 36 million tonnes, despite less crushing.
He noted that factories will likely divert as much cane into sugar production as possible, which would reduce ethanol production.
