State vaccinates at record speed
Two million Israelis soon fully vaccinated
In Israel, the mass vaccinations against Corona are progressing. One million people have already received the first of two necessary doses. By the end of the month, twice as many residents should be fully vaccinated.
Israel has announced that it will fully vaccinate two million people by the end of January. “By the end of January we will have vaccinated two million people, most of them elderly,” said the director general of the Israeli Ministry of Health, Hezi Levy, the public broadcaster Kan. This corresponds to more than a fifth of the total Israeli population of about 9.2 million people.
By Friday, a million people had received their first of two necessary injections. According to Levy, a total of two million people will receive both injections by the end of January. Israel vaccinates the population with the vaccine of the US-German pharmaceutical cooperation of the companies Pfizer and Biontech.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had already stressed on Friday that Israel was breaking all records. “We are running away from the whole world,” he said of the Israeli vaccination strategy. Netanyahu was vaccinated on December 19th. According to the Ministry of Health on Sunday, more than 435,000 people in Israel have contracted the corona virus so far. Almost 3,400 people died from or with the virus.
