Spurs beat Suns, cut streak in Phoenix

PHOENIX (AP) – Rudy Gay had 19 points and the San Antonio Spurs showed a surprising performance despite being decimated, to beat the Phoenix Suns 111-85 on Saturday night.

Drew Eubanks added 13 and grabbed 13 rebounds during his first opening game of the season.

The Spurs lacked several players, including their leading scorer DeMar DeRozan, but they controlled much of the game. Eubanks have played a growing role in recent weeks, finishing with their second “double-double” in the last four meetings.

Phoenix saw a 10-game win streak snapped at home and fell to a 40-16 record on the season. He is about to enter a complicated part of his calendar, in which 12 of his 16 games will be played on someone else’s court.
