Two skiers were killed in an avalanche in South Tyrol in northern Italy in the afternoon. Italian media reported that they were caught by the snow masses in a ski area on the Schnalstal Glacier. The accident occurred over the place Maso Corto at an altitude of more than 2000 meters.
The victims were reportedly a couple from the region. According to the police, mountain rescuers were on duty to search for the two buried victims. For the 65-year-old man and the 52-year-old woman, any help came too late.
