Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James would miss back-to-back games Thursday and Friday against the LA Clippers and Portland Trail Blazers to rest his right ankle, sources told ESPN.
James may miss more games, sources said, as he works with a sore right ankle that kept him out for six weeks until a brief two-game comeback that included losses at home to the Toronto Raptors and Sacramento Kings during the Weekend.
James and the Lakers will continue to assess the injury and proceed with caution as they prepare for the postseason, sources said.
James has experienced some trouble cutting hard back and forth on the court and exploding on motion since his six-week return on the sidelines from injury, sources said.
James stayed out of the final 6 minutes, 42 seconds of Sunday’s game against the Raptors after experiencing ankle pain, and did not play Monday against the Denver Nuggets.
The Lakers are 37-28, staying fifth in the Western Conference standings by half a game over Dallas.
