In Portugal, the Mexican driver Sergio Pérez wants to get a good result to leave behind the performance he had in Imola
Red Bull driver Sergio Pérez considered Imola’s race a missed opportunity for his team to achieve 1-2 on the podium. However, the Mexican will seek to turn the page and hopes to do so next Sunday at the Portuguese Grand Prix.
“Imola was a missed opportunity because I think we should have finished 1-2 but I hope we can make it this weekend”, Were the words of the Mexican that Red Bull published on their social networks.
Pérez started second in the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, while Max Verstappen, his teammate, started from third place. A good outlook for Red Bull.
However, the Mexican finished the race without points, finishing in twelfth position. On the other hand, Verstappen took over the track and took first place ahead of Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes and Lando Norris of McLaren.
“I’m so sorry guys, I drove like an idiot today. I apologize. I’m really, really sorry. Excuse me guys. My big apologies”Were Pérez’s first words at the end of the race in Imola.
So far, the Mexican driver has 10 points after the first two races of the season. He entered the inaugural race at the Bahrain Grand Prix, but failed to do so at the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix.
On the other hand, Max Verstappen has 43 units, in second place in the drivers’ championship, the same as that led by Lewis Hamilton with 44.
While, in the constructors’ championship, Red Bull is second with 53, behind the 60 that Mercedes boasts, while in the third place is McLaren with 41 points.
