Santiago Solari: Sometimes losing is more valuable than winning

América lost a streak of eight games without losing in Liga MX and the possibility of fighting for the leadership

América coach, Santiago Solari, was clear when he recognized that he did not like the defeat of his team at the hands of Toluca by a score of 3-1. However, in his analysis pointed out that a defeat can leave more learnings than a victory.

“What is good is always winning. In sport and in life it teaches, sometimes, losing is more valuable than winning and it puts in value things that you have done and must remember”He said at a press conference.

After stopping a streak of eight games without losing in Liga MX, the Argentine helmsman said that his team did not know how to counter the rival, who went 2-0 on the scoreboard with only 10 minutes of play.

“Toluca played a good game. They started well, strong in the first 10 minutes and when the game gets like that you expose yourself to this game, as happened today, and you have to go in tow. We have had our moments. The game gets uphill very early. We found the rhythm of the game, we had opportunities to discount and we did not take advantage of them, “he mentioned.

With 35 points in 17 games held, Solari mentioned that this setback “has to help us to continue improving and learning.”

In the same way, he added that this duel helped his coaching staff and him to observe elements that had not had minutes throughout the semester.

“Players who didn’t do it often had participation. It gives satisfaction to see it, but it is sad in (these) circumstances, because it is always better to see them with a victory, but this is football and we have to look forward to it ”, he mentioned.

“Each of them did their best. (Nicolás) Benedetti played his first 90 minutes in a long time and I am sorry about (Emanuel) Aguilera because he came from a fantastic tournament and from a change of front he felt something and that makes us sad ”, he concluded.
