Samuel Little confessed to 93 murders
Worst serial killer in America is dead
At first, US investigators think Samuel Little is only a petty criminal. But then he is linked to three unsolved murders. In the end, he confesses to the killing of almost 100 people. Little has now died in custody.
The US serial killer Samuel Little died in California at the age of 80. Little, who confessed to the murder of 93 people last year, died in a hospital early Wednesday (local time), the prison administration said. The autopsy result is still pending.
Little had confessed to killing 93 people – most of them women – between 1970 and 2005. According to the FBI, he is the worst serial killer in US history. His coast-to-coast series of murders went undetected for decades. The former boxer’s victims were mostly drug addicts and prostitutes; not all of them have been identified so far.
The investigators proved Little’s involvement in 50 murders, but also believed his information on the 43 other cases to be credible. Last year, the FBI published drawings of Littles’ alleged victims and video recordings of his information on as yet unknown murders on its website. Some bodies were never found, the FBI said at the time. In some other cases, the investigators initially assumed natural causes of death.
The former boxer, also known as Samuel McDowell, was arrested in the US state of Kentucky in 2012 on drug charges and extradited to California. There Little’s DNA was linked to three unsolved murders from the 1980s. In 2014 he was sentenced to life imprisonment for triple murders.
