Prepare the portfolio; This is what you will have to pay to the Treasury if you have charged Plan Renove or Plan Moves
If in 2020 you got the good news that they gave you help to buy your new car; In 2021, the bad news comes that you have to pay for it. So prepare the wallet, because this is what you will have to pay to the Treasury if you have collected the Renove Plan or the Moves Plan.
Today, April 7, The 2020 income campaign starts. Those taxpayers who during the past year have bought a car and have benefited from the aid of one of the two government plans, Renove or Moves, will see in their draft that they have to return a part.
The Moves 2021 Plan, with 400 million euros, will be presented on Friday
It is not an error. The incentives to purchase vehicles that offered by the Government constitute a capital gain that must be included in the general income tax base based on income and the personal and family situation of each taxpayer. The same does not happen with discounts made directly by the manufacturer, dealer or point of sale of the vehicle in question, which are not taxed by this tax. That is, in the 2020 income statement, the Treasury will ask you to return a part of the aid that the Government has given you, but not the contribution of the concessionaire.
An average of 1,200 euros
The calculations are from the Unoauto specialized portal, based on calculations made by the Treasury Technicians (GESTHA) in the anteroom from the beginning of the Income campaign:
- Buyers of electric cars or cars with a Zero Emissions label that have an average net salary of 21,161 euros per year and have received aid from the Renove Plan or Plan Moves will pay 1,200 euros on their next income statement
- The ECO vehicle buyers who received 1,000 euros in aid (1,500 in the event of scrapping a vehicle older than 20 years), with an average salary of 21,000 euros, will have to pay about 300 euros
- For their part, buyers of vehicles with the “C” label, who received up to 800 euros, will have to pay about 240 euros more in personal income tax.
- Buyers of electric cars, plug-in hybrids or fuel cell who have an average salary of 21,161 euros per year and have received aid from the Moves Plan will also pay 1,200 euros in their next income statement. They will do so after having received an aid of 4,000 euros, which rises to 5,500 euros in the event of a scrapping of a car and that raises the tax bill to 1,650 euros.
What if I do not file an income tax return?
Unauto warns that buyers who do not declare the aid are exposed to having to present a supplementary declaration, which in case of not making it would lead the Administration to settle the corresponding amount with late payment interest and impose a penalty for a tax offense of up to 50% that could be reduced by compliance with the settlement (30%) and by the payment of the sanction in time and without recourse (25% of the sanction reduced by compliance), that is, 26.25% of the fee not entered.
