Mexico, Dec 29 (EFE) .- The Mexican private sector has spoken with Pfizer to commercialize its vaccine in the country as of mid-year, although the formula has not been distributed to private hands anywhere in the world, the president of the National Union of Pharmacy Entrepreneurs (Unefarm), Juvenal Becerra, confirmed on Tuesday.

“They told us that more or less in June or July we could sit down to talk (talk) about when the vaccine could be available for private initiative,” Becerra revealed in a telephone interview with Efe.

The president of Unefarm explained that despite the fact that competent authorities have already given the green light In order to apply this vaccine, the Pfizer production destined for Mexico is committed to the Government.

Mexico was the fourth country to approve the vaccine against COVID-19 from the US pharmaceutical company, after the Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (Cofepris) endorsed it on December 11.

Once the toilets have been vaccinated, Mexico wants to immunize the rest of the population between February 2021 and March 2022 for free and gradually, according to age and chronic diseases.

“As soon as there is the possibility that it can be imported, we will be there to be able to dispense to pharmacies. Our clients are very interested and receptive to the topic of the vaccine ”, concluded Becerra.

Currently, given the global shortage, all the production of the laboratories that have the authorization of emergency use from the different health authorities is reaching the governments directly.
