Petroecuador will paralyze SOTE pipeline to install new ‘bypass’

QUITO, Mar 31 (Reuters) – Ecuador’s state oil company Petroecuador said on Wednesday it will stop its SOTE pipeline for 24 hours from April 1 to install a new bypass, part of its plan to protect the line. from soil erosion after a landslide caused an explosion last year.

Petroecuador said that the temporary interruption of the pipeline, which has the capacity to transport some 360,000 barrels of crude per day, would not affect crude production.
