Peru elections 2021: in what cases can I request exclusion from the position of a member of the Bureau?

If you have been chosen as board member, the law No. 26859 that you cannot resign from the appointment unless you meet some assumptions. If you have not been able to process your exclusion before the elections, you can do so up to five business days after the elections; this is, in the week of April 12-16, as the presidential and parliamentary elections will take place on April 11

Cases in which you can present an excuse

  • i need to be absent from the territory of the Republic.
  • If you are a spouse or relative within the second degree of consanguinity (parents, children, grandparents, grandchildren and siblings) or affinity (in-laws, sons-in-law, sons-in-law, brothers-in-law, step-parents and stepbrothers) of another member at the same table. In that case, you can present the Excuse if you were drawn in the lowest position. For example, if you had to be a table secretary and a brother of yours to be president, you will be the one who can present the Excuse.
  • If you are temporarily absent from the Republic, in accordance with the corresponding reports sent by the National Registry of Identification and Civil Status.
  • If you are an active member of the Armed Forces and the National Police of Peru that carries out activities related to the development of electoral processes.
  • If you are a member of the General Corps of Volunteer Firefighters of Peru.
  • If you are an official or employee of the organizations that make up the Peruvian Electoral System (ONPE and JNE).
  • If you are a member of the Public Ministry who, during election day, performs functions related to the prevention and investigation of electoral crimes.
  • If you are an official of the Ombudsman’s Office that performs electoral supervision.
  • If you are a political authority.
  • If you are a citizen over 70 years old.
  • If you are an authority or representative from popular election.
  • Have a noticeable or serious physical or mental handicap.
  • If you are a pregnant mother.
  • If you are a nursing mother.
  • If you are a vulnerable population against Covid-19. They are considered:
  • Over 65 years old.
  • People with high blood pressure.
  • People with diabetes.
  • People with obesity with a BMI greater than or equal to 40 and have cardiovascular diseases.
  • People with a chronic lung disease.
  • People with cancer.
  • People in a state of immunosuppression established by a health authority.
  • Pregnant women or nursing mothers.
