An oil pipeline that connects the offshore production platforms in front of the Dos Bocas Maritime Terminal caught fire, for which Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) temporarily suspended the operation of the gas pipeline for subsequent repair.
However, the cause or the root that originated this incident is not yet known, so the oil company said it will carry out the necessary investigation and analysis to draw its conclusions.
In a statement, the state oil company explained that the fire originated from a loss of containment in an oil pipeline that transports oil to the Coastal Separation Battery in Dos Bocas, a fire that was already under control at 2:30 p.m.
Pemex affirmed that the Emergency Response Plan was activated by which the pipeline is temporarily taken out of operation to later repair it.
“Oleophilic barriers were placed and there are emergency assistance boats at the site; so far there have been no effects on personnel and facilities, ”he said.
