Official: MLB moves All-Star Game to Coors Field in Colorado

The Major League Baseball (MLB) commissioner’s office announced Tuesday the move of the 2021 All-Star Game to the Colorado Rockies’ Coors Field, days after it pulled the match to Atlanta in response to a new state voting law. of Georgia limiting access to the polls, especially for people of color.

In a statement, the MLB reported that the mid-season classic between the teams of the American and National leagues will be played on Tuesday, July 13. Classic # 91 will be the second in the city of Denver, which organized it in 1998.

MLB reported that it chose the Rockies because they were already in the bidding process to host a future All-Star Game. The Rockies had provided a detailed plan for the hotel, event space and security that took months to put together, and MLB staff had already made several visits to Denver.

Additionally, Governor Jared Polis and Mayor Michael Hancock have committed to providing the necessary facilities and services to support this year’s festivities.
