PARIS – Brazilian forward Neymar will extend his contract with Paris Saint Germain, for four years, until 2026, according to information from the French sports daily L’Equipe; The parties will sign the contract this Saturday.
Neymar, 29, joined PSG in 2017 from Spanish Barcelona for a record transfer fee of € 222 million ($ 270.02 million).
The Brazilian forward said he wanted to leave PSG in 2019 amid reports that he wanted to return to Barcelona; eventually, he stayed before the club reached the final of the Champions League last season.
PSG is also looking to extend Kylian Mbappé’s contract, as the 22-year-old French forward’s contract expires at the end of next season.
At his first press conference with PSG in two years last week, Neymar said he was “really happy” at the club, hinting at a possible contract extension.
However, he was unable to help the team reach a second consecutive Champions League final, after his team was eliminated in the semi-finals by Manchester City with a 4-1 aggregate loss.
