Monterrey, NL.— The head of the State Health Secretariat, Manuel de la O Cavazos, affirmed that in the entity “we are going to stay like the Chinese, just looking”, since none of the vaccines against Covid-19 that arrived Yesterday at the Mariano Escobedo International Airport they will be applied to local doctors, since they are all for Coahuila.

The shipment arrived at 9:15 am in a Boeing 767-type aircraft from Cincinnati, United States, with a total of 8,775 doses.

Federal government sources in Monterrey indicated that the doses will be stored in warehouses inside the air terminal that belong to the parcel company that brought them from Puurs, Belgium.

The vaccines are expected to be transferred by land to Saltillo, Coahuila, starting at 5:00 am on Monday.

When questioned about what was said a few days ago by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, in the sense that some vaccines destined for Coahuila could also be for Nuevo León – as happened with those of Mexico City that were used in Querétaro and the State of Mexico—, De la O said: “We do not know in which hospitals we are going to put them, we still do not have that information from the federal authorities, there is no number of doses, we have not received information from the Federation.”

He added: “We are going to stay like the Chinese (…) None at this time will be for the New Leonese, I hope they will arrive soon, because we must have a fair and equitable treatment for the attention of all citizens.”

The official affirmed that they have not received a response from the federal government to the request that together with the states of the Federalist Alliance made to allow Nuevo León to buy vaccines, since there are businessmen who want to buy the drug to immunize their workers.

“The federal government is the only one that has control and is responsible for the application of vaccination in coordination with state authorities. The logistics, distribution and storage, everything is in charge of the federal government ”.

De la O pointed out that they expect millions of vaccines to arrive soon and not just a few, and he questioned the doses that arrived yesterday: “Why are they enough? Not even to cover the doctors, and those that arrived a few days ago are also very few, we need tens of millions for all Mexicans. I hope we get smarter than other governments to get them. “

The official reported that this Saturday 30 deaths and 530 new cases of Covid-19 were reported, rising to 6,388 deaths and 120,349 people who have contracted the SARS-CoV-2 virus, while the total number of tests carried out amounts to 330,419, while there are 1,414 people hospitalized, the highest number since August 1, when there were 1,503, the highest number since the start of the pandemic. Also, among those hospitalized there are 325 patients with a mechanical respirator.
