Mexico would lose one of its three best scorers

Santiago Ormeño is the Mexican with the most goals in the tournament and is among the most important network breakers in the last five years

MEXICO — Santiago Ormeño he scored his ninth goal of the 2021 Guard1anes tournament against Atlético de San Luis and reached 16 goals in the 2020-2021 season. The Puebla striker is the Mexican scorer with the most goals in this tournament and they place him among the best three best Mexican attackers in the last 10 short tournaments, only surpassed by Alan Pulido, scoring champion in the Apertura 2019, and Omar Bravo in the Opening 2015.

In the absence of a day for the completion of Guard1anes 2021, Ormeño So far, he ranks below Pulido and Omar Bravo, as the third Mexican striker with the best goal effectiveness in the last 10 championships.

The Puebla player has scored nine on these 16 dates of the tournament, a figure reached by José Juan Macías in the 2019 Apertura with León, Víctor Guzmán with Pachuca in the 2018 Apertura and Oribe Peralta in the 2016 Clausura with América.

Santiago Ormeño So far he surpasses Henry Martín, who in the last two championships has been the Mexican offensive that has scored the most goals. Martín scored seven goals in Guard1anes 2020, making him one of the top ten scorers of the tournament, being the only Mexican on this list. While in the Apertura 2018 he made eight annotations.

Even if Santiago Ormeño is competing for the Guard1anes 2021 scoring title, he is still far from the number of goals scored by other Mexican forwards who rose to the scoring leadership among them: Alan Pulido, Ángel Reyna, Omar Bravo, Guillermo Franco and Jared Borgetti.

In the Clausura 2011, Ángel Reyna was proclaimed the general leader of the competition with 13 annotations. The America striker has been the best offensive player in the history of Mexican soccer for 10 years. Omar Bravo scored 11 goals with Chivas in the 2007 Clausura, in the 2004 Apertura Guillermo Franco was crowned scoring champion with 15 annotations; while Jared Borguetti in Summer 2001 scored 13 goals and in Winter 2000 he scored 17 goals.
