Mexico registers 11,271 positive cases of COVID-19 and 1,065 deaths in the last 24 hours

The Health Secretary (SSA) announced that Mexico registers until this Tuesday, January 5, 2021, a total of 1 million 466 thousand 490 positive cases of COVID-19, as well as 128 thousand 822 deaths associated with the disease.

In the last 24 hours alone, 11,271 positive cases of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and 1,065 deaths were added to our country.

According to what was detailed by José Luis Alomía, general director of Epidemiology of the SSA, 1 million 841 thousand 820 people were negative cases at COVID-19.

While 1 million 113 thousand 137 are patients who have recovered from the disease.

And although the cases of contagion continue to increase, Alomía explained that there are no changes in the last two weeks in terms of positivity, which remains at 42 percent.


Hospital occupancy continues to rise

Regarding hospital occupancy, the director general of Epidemiology detailed that this Tuesday 53 percent of national occupancy was registered, two percent more than what was registered yesterday.

This percentage represents the total of 30 thousand 715 beds destined for patients with COVID-19, of which 16,306 are occupied and only 14,409 are available nationwide.

Mexico City remains the entity with the least availability with 86 percent occupancy, followed by the State of Mexico with 82%, Hidalgo 80%, Guanajuato 78% and Nuevo León with 78%.
