Mexico registers 122 thousand 855 deaths from covid-19 and one million 389 thousand 430 accumulated cases of coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, according to the latest report from the Ministry of Health released on December 28.
There is also one million 568 thousand 565 estimated cases, of which 68 thousand 726 are estimated assets; while, one million 48 thousand 539 people have recovered of the coronavirus, reported Ruy López Ridaura, general director of the National Center for Preventive Programs and Disease Control.
In the current epidemiological traffic light, four states are in the red: Mexico City, State of Mexico, Morelos, and Baja California; 23 in orange, three in yellow and two in green: Campeche and Chiapas.
CdMx, Edomex and BC lead hospital occupation in Mexico due to covid-19
Mexico City, the State of Mexico and Baja California are in the first places of hospital occupation for patients with coronavirus. In general beds, the country’s capital registers 87% occupancy, followed by 80% of the State of Mexico and 71% of Baja California. Of the 29,826 available beds, 14,384 are occupied.
Meanwhile, for critical patients that require fan, the CdMx reports an occupancy of 84%, followed by Edomex with 75% and Baja California with 68%. Of the 10 thousand 13 total beds, 4 thousand 219 are occupied.
Low mobility in CdMx before red traffic light due to covid-19
López Ridaura assured that mobility has decreased in Mexico City in public transport such as Metro, Metrobús, Tren Ligero, among others, according to Google data.
He detailed that there was a 44% reduction in the week prior to December 25 compared to March this year. “In recent days, when the red traffic light was applied there is a decrease in mobility,” he said.
More than 9 thousand members of the health personnel have been vaccinated against covid-19
The director of Cenaprece reported that as of December 28, 9,579 members of the health personnel have received the Pfizer vaccine against covid-19.
The official recalled that so far, Pfizer’s vaccine is the only one that has been approved and that it is already being applied among those who are on the front line, treating cases of covid-19 in hospitals.
In Mexico, no new strain of covid-19 reported by the United Kingdom has been detected
So far, in Mexico the new strain of coronavirus reported by the United Kingdom has not been detected in the sequencing that has been done in the country, he said Ruy López Ridaura, director of Cenaprece.
“In Mexico, several sequencing has been carried out and different viral types have been identified that have been circulating at the national level and they also have in which part of the country specific strains have circulated (…), I know that to date the strain has not been identified in Mexico, “he said.
