Man storms supermarket: Ten dead in Colorado, including a police officer – News abroad

Large-scale police operation in Boulder, Colorado! Shots rang out in a supermarket on Saturday afternoon (local time).

In the early evening (local time), the Boulder police announced via Twitter: Ten victims lost their lives, including a police officer.

A suspect is also injured. He has been arrested and is now in custody, so there is no further danger, police said.

In the afternoon, the agency had called on people in the city northwest of Denver to avoid the area. A police photo showed numerous armed officers and several ambulances. Governor Jared Polis spoke of a “tragedy” on Twitter.

The police responded to an emergency call on Tuesday afternoon with a large offer and surrounded the shop complex. Special forces were also on duty. The security forces called the suspect over the loudspeaker to give up. Eyewitnesses reported several gunshots and motionless people on the floor of the supermarket. The police did not provide any information on the motive, with reference to the early stage of the investigation.

District Attorney Michael Doherty said, “It’s a tragedy and a nightmare.”

White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said US President Joe Biden has been informed about the incident in the state of Colorado and will be kept informed.

A police announcement to the shooter could be heard on a video from the television station “Abc News”: “The entire building is surrounded. You have to give up. ”

A live internet video showed how the officers led away a man who was apparently covered in blood. Police chief Yamaguchi did not comment on whether he was the arrested suspect.

A YouTube user who identified himself as a journalist in front of the police officers and who said he was shopping in the supermarket, reported several shots and people on the ground. He then filmed the police operation from the parking lot. The video showed several people being led out of the building.
