With just 104 visits – according to a Facebook page – the travel agency Dale Tours she has been closely watched for a few months.
The business located in Jardines del Sol in Zapopan, Jalisco (in the west of the country) has not answered calls for days. The reason could be related to the recent investigation by the US Treasury Department that links it to the most powerful criminal organization in Mexico, the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).
According to the US government, this agency is not on the exclusive hotel or airline directories, but its revenue has been strangely high. In 2019, for example, it billed almost a million pesos.
That year, a powerful customer purchased hundreds of first-class airline tickets — many of them one-way — to North America, South America, Europe, and Asia.
The major buyer who chose Dallas, Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Seattle, Ecuador, Colombia, Bolivia, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Romania, Poland, including China and New Zealand as a last stop, was identified as Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, the Mencho, main leader of the CJNG.
The owner of the company is, according to the US Treasury Department, Alejandro Chacón Miranda, 35, who would have been trained by Hugo Gonzalo Mendoza Gaytán, the just, fearsome right arm of Oseguera Cervantes and who could inherit absolute control of the cartel.
Chacón Miranda founded the agency in 2006 in a small store in a supermarket in Tlajomulco de Zúñiga. Soon, he opened a second branch in the municipality of Zapopan.
The Python operation – which in March of last year was made known by the US authorities – revealed that this company had been the supplier of several of the plane tickets of the arrested hitmen, around 700.
The company not only had on its passenger list the chiefs of the CJNG, but also those who are dedicated to the transport of narcotics known as “Mules”.
For these actions, Dale Tours, which one day operated in full view of all Jalisco residents, was designated by the United States Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) as an illegal business, which could also be related to money laundering for the Jalisco Nueva Cartel Generation.
On March 31, the Financial Intelligence Unit (UIF) reported the blocking of the accounts of three people linked to the CJNG: Carlos Andrés “N” alias the Company, —Of Mexican and Colombian nationality—, and the Mexican Francisco Javier “N”, important CJNG operators, and those who have helped orchestrate assassinations on behalf of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, the Mencho. The shares also include Alejandro Chacón Miranda.
According to the FIU, all three are established in Jalisco (west of Mexico) and work under the wing of Hugo Gonzalo Mendoza Gaytan, alias the just y/o King Toad– Head of the CJNG in Puerto Vallarta (Jalisco) -, who in 2019 was designated by OFAC as the main operator of the Jalisco.
The operation against the CJNG includes the collaboration of the Secretary of the Treasury and Public Credit and the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the United States Department of the Treasury (OFAC).
