Mexico City, Apr 3 (EFE) .- The president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, wished his Argentine counterpart, Alberto Fernández, a speedy recovery this Saturday, who tested positive for covid-19.

“Alberto Fernández, friend and president of Argentina: I want you to recover soon,” López Obrador wrote in a Twitter message,

“You have a lot of strength and most Argentines are giving you good vibes because they love you, like us. Courage, partner,” he added.

The Mexican president also suffered from the disease and was confined in the last week of January and the first of February.

Shortly before, Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard also wished Fernández a “speedy recovery.”

“We wish President Alberto Fernández a prompt restoration. Let the solidarity and affection of Mexico go this way,” Ebrard said in a message on Twitter.

The Argentine president, who turned 62 this Friday, reported his contagion this Saturday at dawn in a message on social networks.

Fernández, who had already been vaccinated against covid-19 with the Russian Sputnik V vaccine, confirmed that he had an antigen test positive, and that he was waiting to receive the result of the PCR test.

At the end of February, Fernández was in Mexico invited by López Obrador to participate in the commemoration of the 200 years of the Iguala Plan, a fundamental milestone for the proclamation of the country’s independence.

Precisely at that meeting, López Obrador thanked the president of Argentina for facilitating Mexico’s access to the Russian Sputnik V vaccine.

It was the second meeting between the two leftist leaders after Fernández visited the country as president-elect in 2019.
