Italy: teenage boy stabs his father – now Alex Pompa faces 20 years imprisonment

It is an act so cruel and so understandable at the same time …

In Italy, an 18-year-old teenager has been charged with the murder of his father – if convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison. The reason for his bloody act is moving, however.

On April 30, 2020, Alex Pompa finally freaked out: In a dispute between his father Giuseppe Pompa († 52) and his mother, the prosecutor said he intervened, grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed his father 24 times he was dead. He then called 911 and explained what had happened to the police.

According to the investigators, anger had built up in the perpetrator for years: the father had physically and mentally abused his wife, Alex’s mother, for many years, for example calling her a hundred times a day to have control over her.

This terror escalated on the evening of the crime in April 2020. According to media reports, Alex and his brother wrote their uncle a message desperately asking for help: “You are the only one who is listening. You have to draw drastic consequences. We’re all risking our lives here. ”His wife’s father had just thrown a phone in his wife’s face because he wanted to see a work colleague put his hand on his wife’s shoulder.

It was the moment when Alex Pompa (then 17) used violence himself to defend his mother.

After his confession, the teenager was initially placed under house arrest – in the house where years of violence had been perpetrated and the crime had finally taken place. A judge finally moved the arrest to a friend’s house – because Alex’s stay in the horror house could lead to traumatic effects.

So Alex was able to graduate from university. He is said to have even received a congratulatory call from Lucia Azzolina, the Italian Minister for Education.

No date has yet been set for the trial. The public prosecutor wants to convict Pompa of premeditated murder. He is reportedly facing a prison sentence of up to 20 years.
