True to its essence of being the Barrio Bravo, the inhabitants and merchants of Tepito are not afraid of Covid-19, so they ignore the calls of the police and personnel of the Cuauhtémoc and Venustiano Carranza municipalities to respect the healthy distance, carry the mask and other sanitary measures.

This challenge was joined by thousands of people who come to make their end-of-year shopping and some have begun to stock up on toys for Three Kings Day; In other words, there is no red traffic light or any other measure against the coronavirus.

Hence the complaint of the merchants on public roads in the Historic Center, that “they forced us to lock ourselves in our houses and prevent us from selling, while those from Tepito are given all the facilities. It seems that the Government [capitalino] it protects the mafia, drug dealers and other merchandise, “denounced leaders.

Despite the red traffic light, given the dramatic increase in infections, hospitalizations and deaths, in Tepito life passes at a normal pace, where the healthy distance was eradicated, the masks are an ornament.

Last Sunday they held their traditional inn, where beers, alcohol and other “strange” substances prevailed, enlivened by live music from Pokifamosito, Óscar and his salsa group and Gabriel So, better known as El Salsero.

And although a day before the organizers announced the cancellation of the event, because the authorities ordered them to do so, something strange happened and hours later they backed off and the megaposada was held as every year.

The December holiday continues and Tepiteños do not care about infections, that hospitals that are saturated and, above all, that deaths continue by people who, like them, did not believe the severity of Covid-19. There is no human or legal power to make them see reason.
