In December 277 thousand jobs were lost due to outsourcing, says AMLO

In December, due to outsourcing in companies, 277 thousand jobs were lost in Mexico, said President Andrés Manuel López Obrador this Saturday.

“We were doing very well, we had already recovered about 600 thousand jobs, we lost about a million with the pandemic.

“But in December, which is an atypical month, since the famous outsourcing takes place, many workers registered in social security are fired for not paying benefits or Christmas bonus and we lost for that reason in December, after we have been winning month after month. , we lost 277 thousand jobs, “he said through a video posted on his networks.

The president pointed out that “as we already had 600 thousand, well we recovered 350 thousand, we are going for 650 thousand jobs, I think we are going to obtain them from January to March.”

López Obrador reiterated that at the end of March, the employment figures will be as they were before the pandemic.

The Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) reported on December 11 that 148 thousand 719 jobs were ‘rescued’ in November, bringing the recovery of jobs to a total of 555 thousand 600 places in the period from August as of November 2020.

The jobs reported in November are the best number of registrations in the IMSS for the month of November since 1999, the year in which 155 thousand 414 jobs were created.

With the jobs registered in the last four months, the 555,247 lost in April have already been recovered.

That is, it took the country four months to regain the jobs with social security that were lost in the worst month for formal employment during the pandemic, since April was the first month in which the economy suffered a shutdown and measures were applied. of social distancing to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
