Hospital residents removed after student death from covid

TLALNEPANTLA, State of Mexico.

After the death by covid-19 of Jorge Alejandro López Rivas, an undergraduate intern at the General Hospital of Ecatepec, Dr. José María Rodríguez, and a student of the Medical Surgeon career of the Faculty of Higher Studies (FES) Iztacala was announced , the team of internal doctors assigned to this hospital withdrew.

In a statement, the director of the FES, María del Coro Arizmendi Arriaga, indicated that after the death of the student, she requested the head of the career of Mexico Surgeon, Adolfo René Méndez Cruz, to establish contact with the relevant authorities and with the family of Jorge Alejandro .

Thus, three meetings were held in which personnel from the Secretariat of Health of the State of Mexico, the General Hospital of Ecatepec and with the group of Internal Physicians who were assigned to the hospital participated at different times.

We listened to the concerns of the students, we received their requests and we acted accordingly, as a result of the foregoing and the meticulous review of the case, I decided to withdraw in its entirety the team of undergraduate interns from our faculty assigned to said unit, until conditions are improved so that everyone can carry out their work, with the appropriate security measures ”, he pointed out.

It also points out that instructions have been issued so that reviews are carried out at the different hospital sites where the students work, so that where they cannot provide optimal conditions for the development of their activities they are immediately withdrawn.
