Graciela Márquez joins the Inegi governing board

He Inegi reported that last Friday, January 1, he joined the Institute Graciela Marquez Colin, appointed by the Federal Executive and ratified by the plenary session of the Senate of the Republic, to hold the position of vice president of the governing board, with a validity until December 31, 2028.

Marquez Colin has a degree in Economics from the ONE and a Master’s in Economics from El Colegio de México, where she has an academic career as a professor and researcher at this study center.

He has a Ph.D. in Economic History from Harvard University. She belongs to the National System of Researchers and is the author of several investigations on history and fiscal, commercial policy, industrialization, inequality and economic development compared.

Before being proposed as a member of the Inegi Governing Board, Márquez Colín served as head of the Ministry of Economy of the federal government. With the integration of Márquez Colín to the Governing Board, and in the exercise of his powers and in accordance with article 81 of the Law of the National Statistical and Geographical Information System (SNIEG), the president of Inegi, Julio Santaella, decided to assign to the new vice president in charge of the National Economic Information Subsystem.

With this, the subsystems that make up the SNIEG will be coordinated and served as follows: Demographic and Social by Enrique de Alba Guerra; Geographical Environment, Territorial and Urban Planning, Paloma Merodio Gómez; Government, Public Security and Administration of Justice, Adrián Franco Barrios; and Economic by Graciela Márquez Colín.

It is the responsibility of the Inegi Governing Board to regulate the operation of the SNIEG and regulate the collection, processing and publication of the information that is generated; determine the information considered of national interest; approve the Strategic programs of the National System of Statistical and Geographic Information; National Statistics and Geography; Annual Statistics and Geography, and the Annual Work Program of the Institute, as well as determining the policies for the administration of human, financial and material resources, in terms of the applicable provisions in accordance with article 77 of the SNIEG Law.
