Gendarme shot his ex-wife’s boyfriend and brother-in-law to death

A gendarme this Friday he shot his ex-wife’s partner, a corporal of the same security force, and her brother-in-law, after attacking them at the door of a house in the Buenos Aires party of San Miguel. The incident took place around 11 in the morning at Monsignor Blois 2089, near the corner of Güemes, in the jurisdiction of the aforementioned northwestern district of the suburbs.

Police sources informed Télam that it all began when the defendant, identified as the first lieutenant Jorge Luis Ríos (34 years old), who performs his duties in the Campo de Mayo Investigations Unit, appeared at the house of his ex-wife, also a corporal of the same force, from which he had been separated a year ago.

The 31-year-old woman, who works in the Security and Custody Group of the Centinela Building in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Retiro, returned from celebrating the New Year with her current boyfriend, a GNA corporal named Martín Ariel Salto (34), and his brother-in-law, Alexis Salto (27).

In addition, the eight-year-old son that Ríos and his ex-partner have in common returned with them, after which the aggressor drew his service weapon and attacked the two men.

The brothers were shot in the heads and died almost instantly, so a 911 call alerted them to the double crime.

Staff of the police station 1st. from San Miguel arrived at the scene immediately and apprehended Ríos, who was seized with a Pietro Beretta pistol caliber 9 millimeters.

The investigators established that there were no previous complaints of gender violence but there were threats that were going to kill them since they did not accept the relationship. The fact is investigated by the prosecutor Gloria Reguán, in charge of the decentralized Malvinas Argentinas Functional Instruction Unit (UFI) 22, San Martín Judicial Department.

The judicial officer will investigate Ríos in the next few hours for the crime of “double homicide aggravated by the use of a firearm.”
