Two youths died in France as a result of brawls. As the German Press Agency learned from police circles on Tuesday, no connection between the two cases south of Paris is suspected.
Accordingly, a 13-year-old was killed in a fight in Boussy-Saint-Antoine in the afternoon. A 14-year-old was seriously injured in the dispute between more than 50 people. Knives and baseball bats were used as weapons. Six people were arrested.
The evening before, about 40 kilometers away, a 14-year-old woman in Saint-Chéron also died after a fight. She was fatally wounded in the stomach with a knife, said Evry prosecutor Caroline Nisand. A total of six young people between the ages of 13 and 16 were arrested here – three of them had turned themselves in to the police. One of the suspects confessed, said Nisand.
The judiciary is investigating, among other things, murder and serious violence against minors as well as failure to provide assistance.
France’s Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin traveled to the Essonne department on Tuesday, where both brawls had taken place. In a video published on Twitter, he expressed his support and announced that around a hundred police officers and gendarmes would be stationed in the area for as long as necessary.
