Gabriel Mena, director of Probosque, detailed through his account Twitter what the fire was controlled at the height of Tlalmanalco, while containment works are carried out in the upper part of the Izta-Popo National Park.

For her part, the Secretary for Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection, Myriam Urzúa Venegas, assured local media that the fire does not represent a greater risk for the surrounding communities, so they did not have to be evicted.

During the evening of January 1, social network users reported the fire on the slope of the Iztaccíhuatl volcano within the territory of the State of Mexico.

One of the users who reported the fire in Twitter It was former President Felipe Calderón who published two photos of the event.

In a first tweet, Calderón Hinojosa wrote: “What appears to be a huge forest fire is observed on the slopes of Iztaccíhuatl. Hopefully @SEMARNAT_mx, @CONAFOR @Edomex can verify and control ”.

In a following message he detailed: “The fire is now spreading over a wide area of ​​the Iztaccíhuatl forest reserve. A tragedy”.
