The Gabby Petito murder case moves America and the world. On Sunday, numerous people said goodbye to the 22-year-old who was killed on Long Island. Particularly moving: the words of her grieving father Joe Petito.

While the FBI is still feverishly searching for the suspected killer – Gabby’s fiancé Brian Laundrie, 23 – the brave Joe Petito gathered all his might and told the world, “I want you to be inspired by Gabby. If there is a journey that you want to take, do it now. Do it now while you still have time. If you are in a relationship that may not be best for you, leave it now. “

Petito also described his daughter in his eulogy as a “happy girl” to whom people would have felt drawn.

With his statements, Petito alluded to his daughter’s relationship with Brian Laundrie. A police check on the couple in Utah and witness statements suggest that Gabby Petito and Brian Laundrie had repeated problems and physical attacks.

Nevertheless, the couple set out on a road trip through the United States in June.

After the police separated the couple for one night, Petito and Laundrie finally left the next day. Petito’s family received the last message on August 30th. A day later, Laundrie returned alone to Florida, where he lived with Gabby in the city of North Port. The Petito family reported Gabby missing.

And not only that: Laundrie was suddenly missing too! They hadn’t seen their son in three days, his parents told police on September 17th.

Sad certainty: Gabby is dead
